A Multi-venue Town-wide Jazz Experience

yellow-notesIn its sixth year, Dunsmuir’s Jazz in the Canyon will take place in the cooler days of Autumn. Each year, Dunsmuir comes together to celebrate one of America’s own true art forms–jazz. Multiple venues will feature many jazz musicians from all over California. The Sixth Annual Jazz in the Canyon 2017 will take place Thursday, Sept 28 – Sunday, Oct 1, 2017.

Jazz in the Canyon honors the broad influences of jazz that mirrors the vast melting pot in American culture. Listeners will be treated to everything from blues to swing, bebop to gypsy jazz, smooth jazz to Latin jazz, some funk, and eclectic fusions of roots and folk music infused with jazz.

Participating music venues for year 2017 include Dunsmuir Brewery Works, Pops Performing Arts and Cultural Center, the Siskiyou Arts Museum, the Burger Barn, the Pizza Factory , La Perla de Nayarit Mexican Restaurant and more.  Check back for updated schedule, artists, and venues for year 2017.

Jazz-inspired Fun

Many of the businesses in town adding to the festivities in their own special way. Silver Moon Galleria/Heart & Soul Emporium will be offering a workshop on how to make musical note earrings, and Old Thyme Tattoo will be offering musical note tattoos for $25. The Dunsmuir Library will have jazz books on display and the Cornerstone Restaurant will be cooking up their Benedict Goodman Egg Special. Throughout Jazz in the Canyon, All Aboard Espresso will be offering espresso drinks named after jazz greats, and Lennan’s Junktion Antique is offering a 15% discount.  Ted Fay Fly Fishing shop will be offering a 10% discount. (Folks must mention “Jazz in the Canyon” to redeem.)

Dunsmuir? Where’s Dunsmuir?

Dunsmuir, California is located  just off Interstate 5, about 10 miles South of Mt Shasta, 50 miles North of Redding, and 60 miles South of the Oregon border.  An Ol’ charming train town with an Amtrak station, Dunsmuir is known for its many fine restaurants, great fishing spots and beautiful scenery. With the Sacramento River traversing right through it, Dunsmuir is particularly beautiful in the Fall.
